IS-2008-106: Ethernet Services: WAN options mature


Verizon has compiled a collection of papers that advocates Ethernet for applications outside of local area networks (LANs). Wide area network (WAN) applications include virtual private networks and Provider Backbone Transport for long-distance packet transport. Ethernet is being proposed to replace or to complement MLPS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) for the wide area networks.
