Life Cycle Calculator

CABA's Life Cycle Calculator is a comprehensive, user friendly Web-based tool tool that allows owners, facility managers, architects and engineers to evaluate, model and assess intelligent building automation systems and its impact on life cycle costs of proposed and existing building inventory.

The Calculator, developed in conjunction with RSMeans allows users to choose, evaluate, view, and save customized reports determining the return-of-investment potential of intelligent buildings.

The tool leverages the RSMeans Square Foot Models for initial construction costs; RSMeans Facilities Maintenance & Repair and Preventative Maintenance & Repair evaluation tools for operational costs, as well as building automation controls evaluation tools for the Means Assembly databases. U.S. Department of Energy usage guides are also provided to calculate energy costs in the building.

The final calculated result provides a report outlining initial assembly costs and a 10 year cost analysis for return-on-investment applicable to fully intelligent and integrated building automation controls.
