Better building systems bring energy efficiency and operational benefits which are relatively easy to demonstrate, but it has been much more difficult to establish the complete economic value of advanced buildings for organizations and develop a solid business case based on organizational productivity gains.

CABA's 2014 white paper, "Improving organizational productivity with building automation systems" proposed a balanced scorecard approach to combine the benefits on energy and maintenance with the effects on employee well-being into an overall picture of organizational productivity. This led to the recent CABA Boutique Research Project of the same name, results from which are the centrepiece of this workshop.

You will learn how better buildings stack up against other organizational interventions that might affect employee well-being (hint: it's good news), and how your organization can use this new information to estimate for itself the value of your buildings.  Learn, too, how your organization can help to shape the next CABA project on organizational productivity.
