This paper by RAD was published in 2016. This paper explores the driving factors behind the tomorrow’s utility networks. The five driving factors are: Migration to next-gen comms, Distributed energy and renewables, Automation, remote sensing and intelligent control, Operational technology and IT integration, and finally Cyber security. These factors are closely related to the internet of things, and can be achieved with the help of communication solutions.
